This past school year went by so fast! Our last day was May 18th and I am enjoying my break. Of course, I am already thinking about next year. The main thing I need to concentrate on is incorporating lessons to the Common Core Standards. I also have a goal of making emergency sub plans and making more "Daily 5" centers. Pinterest is something I am becoming addicted to! I have found so many good ideas from room organization to lesson plans!
Our school's theme for next year is Beach/Ocean. I'm going to decorate my room by using a Tropical Beach theme. I've found lots of cute things from the Dollar Tree already. There are also a lot of ideas on the Internet and blogs. Here are a few things I've purchased already. I welcome any ideas from bloggers! Thanks!
Fun stuff!

As I toured several districts here in Kansas this past year, I encountered two middle schools that adopted a building-wide theme, which seemed to unify students for that age group. I'm wondering what a school-wide theme looks and feels like at the elementary level! Looking forward to reading your blog to see how your next year goes.

We have had school-wide themes for the past 3 years. I believe it has helped motivate the students and staff. We have assemblies related to the themes about once a quarter. The following themes were used: Hollywood, Cowboys/Western, and Sports. I'm looking forward to next year's theme-Beach/Ocean. We are supposed to rotate themes every 7 years so it won't be so costly. Teachers are encouraged to decorate their hallway areas, but a lot of us also decorate our rooms (although not required).
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog!
